emily, jade, rachel

ladyfingers consist of three individuals: emily (the oldest, the wise owl), rachel (the graceful ballet starlet) and jade (layne staley impressionist). in a bid to do something fun during their gcse's (and for the sake of becoming rock n roll goddesses) they started a band. from frodsham (it's near chester.) to uhm.. fiji, ladyfingers (rachel is especially keen on these idea) will rock yr socks. here's an interesting story for you:

... and so it all begin with a chance meeting in a maths classroom. emily turned round and noticed a strange girl lurking behind her chair smiling, and so she spoke to the girl. her name was rachel. they ended up learning to play guitar together with emily's friend hannah and dreamed of rippin' around the country doing their own thing.

rachel had a friend called jade who emily sat next to on a geography trip. on the way home emily slipped 'live through this' by hole into her discman. jade hated violet but loved miss world.

after many, many months of practising rachel traded her guitar in for a bass. she loved it's sexy grooves.

a few months beforehand jade had purchased some drums, much to her cat loving neighbours dismay... they quickly told her to get good and whipped her into our loving, tender caress... i mean ...arms.

after the original line up fell through (hannah left after they had an argument and we killed her with fish hooks.) and they all settled on a name (suggestions included the floozies, sister rae, the apple riots...) : LADYFINGERS!

and so they were born on 10/02/03.

they'd landed a gig with some guys.they had a few things to prove but mainly they just wanted to get on stage. they had five months to prepare for it and they had nothing but notepads full of lyrics.

writing songs took a while for the band. they had to go through the process of finding out what they can do (screaming) and what they can't (sleater-kinney covers)

a few arguments and many discarded songs later, here they are. getting more attention, being asked to do more gigs, practising more and listening to the tape of their very first pracise and shuddering. ("it sounds like someone throwing a drum kit at someone screaming!")

*throws water over you*

things people have said about us...

"Teenage Riot Grrrl Rock band - not too complicated really is it?" - Orion, Blastwave

"They put the GRRR in grrrl" - crazy noise army man Tom

"Ladyfingers, the innovative pet-project of three young grrrls are one rising tribute to everything grrrl rock ever threw at us.

Sounding like a modern teenage Stevie Nicks and Janis Joplin's back street granddaughter, seemingly quaint Emily Jones of commuter-ville Frodsham rip-roars and tears through tracks such as L7's 'Monster' and Bikini Kill's 'Suck My Left One'. With Rachel Barnard on bass guitar and Jade French on drums, the lights low and volume high, the first time you see these ladies execute their stage presence you'll know they're going to be big. Not just big, but on the cover of every music magazine, from Rolling Stone to the New Musical Express, both sides of the Atlantic... Whether they like it or not.

Taking parts of the nineties riot-grrrl sound and image, such as the US's Babes In Toyland, and the UK's own Huggy Bear. Transplant grunge riffs, and bass hooks that could land a whale, and then sprinkle kinderwhore frontwoman all over it. Sugary yet toxic Ladyfingers will have even the skeptics scared to sleep in the haunted house. Miss Love better watch her back. Bright young heroines have arrived on the scene. Ladyfingers are truly one good band to check out, and without a doubt the only good thing on Frodsham's (if not the North West's) tourist board."
